The second degree of Reiki ‘Okuden’ means “Inner Teachings” and is a requirement for anyone wishing to be a practitioner and offer Reiki therapy and treatments. There is further self-healing and development and you will learn three of the Usui Reiki symbols: the Power symbol to focus and intensify the channel of Reiki and to activate the other symbols; the Harmony symbols to bring peaceful solutions and balance and the Distance or Absent symbol to transmit Reiki across distance of time and place. Students are now encouraged to develop a more intuitive approach to therapeutic treatments and to allow the Reiki energy to flow where it is needed most. Okuden is considered a professional qualification and students wishing to develop this aspect will need to consider business skills, confidentiality, data protection and insurances.
