Event 4 - 4

Our Autumn social outing begins with a morning visit to the Spa Gardens; a beautiful floral park in the heart of Ripon that is also a habitat for a variety of birds and wildlife and has pieces of woodcarving commemorating the part Ripon played in Lewis Carroll’s creation of Wonderland. Lunch can be bought at the park café or other eateries in the city or bring a packed lunch for a picnic in the park. In the afternoon we will have an exclusive private tour of Markenfield Hall, an early 14th-century moated manor house with 700 years of history of political and religious conflict. The Markenfield family owned the Hall until their fateful involvement in the Rising of the North in 1569 when the Hall and its surrounding farmland were confiscated by Elizabeth I. More will be told by our expert guides and all to be followed with a very civilized serving of tea, coffee and cakes (included in the trip price).

Open to Lighthouse students and their guests. Early bird price before 31st July £32
Full price £38 Advanced booking only. Terms & Conditions apply.
